Holes in a boat

Some 30 days back i thought to build a boat and started work on it firstly I draw a sketch of it that how it should look from different angles and then I think what material should I used to build a boat, suddenly I saw some pieces of steel sheets which was used by carpenters in remake of some old doors of our house and I thought this could be a good material for boat these sheets was very light in weight and was floating on water when I suspended them in a bucket of water and started to create the boat as designed in the sketch. The boat was going to run by a motor which will be powered by two small AA size pencil cells which were fitted by me in the way they create a good equilibrium.

But now arise a problem which was asking me a question the problem was; when I now suspended the boat in the water bucket the water entered the boat through small holes which was created in the process of fitting the motor and cells with the boat, I get solution of the problem very soon by putting some melted wax in the holes and then the boat was working nice but I thought when I went to a tour to Kashmir Pahalgam i got a chance for rafting in river Lider where i saw a lot many of holes in the raft boat but the boat was not sinking in the river and was floating fine but mine steel boat was sinking till the holes are not filled. From mine point of view this is because mine boat is not having so many holes that the water entered escapes from the other hole as the raft boat is having so many holes that the water entered from one escapes from other or where it runs the speed of water and the boat is so fast without any use of motor the holes in the boat don’t matter too much and also because of the material used in raft boat should be of different type that makes the boat float instead of having holes.
